THE FARMERS MARKET

TASK: DESIGN A FARMERS' MARKET
LOCATION: SEARCY, ARKANSAS
YEAR: SEM V [3RD YEAR]
STUDIO PROJECT

The Farmers Market responds to an ongoing need in Searcy for a gathering place that supports
local vendors while fostering community connection and engagement with nature. The design
integrates outdoor community gardens, generous seating areas, and spaces for outdoor education
to encourage social interaction and shared learning. An elevated bike trail weaves through the site,
allowing riders to experience the landscape both beneath and above the tree canopy, an experience
unique to the region. The market also serves as a connective element, linking the site eastward to
an existing park and westward to a developing outdoor pavilion area for Harding University events.
